Level 5 Smooth Finish

Level 5 is the top of the drywall finishing scale: a skim coat applied over the entire surface after the joints are taped and coated, so there is no difference in texture or porosity between the seams and the field of the board. The result is dead flat.

It matters most where light is going to give you away — big windows, raking wall washers, glossy or deep paint colors, and open modern rooms. Anything less than Level 5 and you will see every seam and fastener the first sunny afternoon. This is the finish we are named for.

What the job includes

  • Tape and three coats over all joints and fasteners
  • Full skim coat across the entire surface
  • Sanding to a uniform, dead-flat plane
  • Bright-light inspection before we call it done
  • Paint-ready hand-off — primer and topcoat go on clean
  • Works over flat walls, curves, and architectural details
